Teenage Car Insurance – Coverages?

Looking for teenage car insurance need not throw you into fits of confusion. By understanding what your needs are and what coverages are available to you, you will be able to choose the right car insurance policy.

Auto Liability Insurance
Liability auto insurance coverage is the minimum auto insurance coverage required by law in most states. It is intended to cover the victims of an auto accident that is deemed to have been caused by you. Your own bodily injuries or property damage is not usually covered by liability insurance.

Comprehensive Auto Insurance
Comprehensive coverage pays for repairs or the replacement of your car if it is stolen or damaged by fire, flood or any other non-collision damage.

Collision Cover
Collision coverage handles damage and loss related to your vehicle from collisions with other cars, stationery objects and road obstructions.

Uninsured/Underinsured Cover
In the event of an auto accident, uninsured motorist cover protects you from damages sustained by a driver who does not have automotive insurance.

GAP Coverage
We all know that there is a sharp decline in the value of a car immediately after purchase. This means that any loan you took out to finance the purchase of the vehicle could be many thousands of dollars greater than the amount your auto insurance company would pay out if your car was stolen or became a total loss following an accident. Gap cover or loan/lease cover as it is also known is intended to bridge that gap in valuation and the amount you owe on the loan.

Person Injury Protection Cover
This covers the medical expenses of the insured irrespective of who caused the accident. It is also known as no-fault cover and is mandatory in some states.

Pay-Per-Mile
As it’s name suggests, the cost of this auto insurance is based upon the number of miles that the insured vehicle is driven. In order to measure the mileage, the vehicle is fitted with a tracking device by the car insurance company.

Teenage car insurance coverages are many and varied as you can see from the above list. Most teenage car insurance policies are a mix of different coverages depending upon the driver’s needs.
